Alpha Chi Omega strives to spread awareness of Domestic Violence as well as helping those in the community who are going through difficult situations as well as those who are survivors of Domestic Violence. We make it a goal to try and each as many as we can on campus and the Greensboro community. By developing “Real. Strong. Women.", we are always growing as a chapter and serving others first. Alpha Chi Omega views giving back as a privilege, and our VP of Philanthropy looks forward to widening our efforts in the future.
Clothes Line Project & Take Back the Night
Clothesline Project and Take Back the Night are events where we encourgae women and men to come together and hear the stories of survivors of Domestic Violence that are in our community. Domestic Violence is a serious issue for all ages, and we work to make people more aware of its impact. The Clothesline Project is an event where people can share their stories by writing them on t-shirts. We hang the shirts up on a clothesline on campus for all to walk by and read their stories. Take Back the Night is a night for students and people around our community to meet on the Library Lawn to listen to survivors as they share their stories. It is a powerful and emotional night, but it shows that there is always a light at the end of a tunnel. For this event we partner up with the UNCG Recreation and Wellness Center.
Rawk Sit is an events where our sisters camp out by the Rawk on campus for 72 hours straight. It's a great time to meet new people, while spreading DVA. Sisters also get a chance to build even stronger relationships. Other Greek organizations come out and support us by bring hot chocolate, pizza, and doughnuts throughout the week.
Healthy Relationships Week
Healthy Relationships week is our first Philanthropy event in the Spring and it is always the week of Valentines Day. This week we spread DVA by talking and sending love around campus. We get our community involved by selling donuts and flowers, and giving out free candy. We encourage students to become apart of "These Hands Do Not Hurt," by having then put a handprint on a sheet that we will use for other Philanthropy events.
Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi
Pizza Pie with Alpha Chi is a Spring philanthropy event which raises money for Domestic Violence Awareness which goes directly to the Freedom House. We partner up with a local pizza joint in Greensboro and encourage people to come out and have some pizza with us! It's a great opportunity to spread DVA and get to know the locals around Greensboro.
